• 8pm Where the Wild Things Are (Jonze 09)

An early screening of the favourite children's book, adapted by Dave Eggers and Spike Jonze, who also directs. Max is a 12 year old boy, lonely and alienated at home, who sails to far off lands, where... well, where the wild things are. Or at least wild things for the Muppets / Fraggle Rock generation. In fact, the SFX are kept to a minimum which actually gives the film more of an imaginary, make-believe feel with the wild things lovingly portrayed and voiced. All in all, much more of a film for adults and whilst it doesn't quite live-up to the high expectations, still a gorgeous little film.
