06 09 07: Resonance FM + Electric Sheep Film Club
Resonance FM, London's first radio art station, and Electric Sheep, the film magazine for left-field, offbeat cinema, have joined forces for a provocative night of film and talk. Launching their joint Film Club tonight is Melvin Van Peebles' Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song, the incendiary tale of a ghetto hustler that sparked Hollywood's blaxploitation fever in 1971. Come and see this landmark of rebel cinema and talk about it with Resonance and Electric Sheep film critics + guest speaker Joel Karamath (who runs Uncut at the ICA) in the lush surroundings of the Roxy Bar and Screen. Live DJs playing hits and hidden gems from their soul and funk collection. The night starts at 7pm, film at 8pm, admission is free. This screening is in celebration of the launch of Electric Sheep's first print issue, out on September 1st . You'll be able to pick up a copy and read about the forthcoming delights of the 15th Raindance Film Festival as well as the darkest, weirdest and most exciting film and DVD releases - all for free!
